Most mahjong layouts are wide, because they were designed for monitors. Hold a phone upright and the Turtle shrinks to tiles the width of a fingernail. Three Sails is my answer: seven tiles across, eight down, 94 tiles in all, so the board can fill a portrait screen instead of hiding in the middle of it.
The three “sails” are three stacks of four layers, one above the other, joined by a wide hull at the base. Each stack is a small pyramid in its own right, and the game is really three short games with a shared bottom row. The stack you finish first opens the hull under it, so it pays to work one sail down before spreading your attention across all three.
The site chooses this board on its own when it sees a narrow screen, and you can switch away to any other layout from the menu. On a desktop it feels a little cramped; there the Turtle or Pyramid makes better use of the width.
